Costume in your Closet

Oops! You forgot something didn’t you? Why else would you be here looking at costumes right before Halloween? I don’t blame you, we’ve all been there at one time or another. Fortunately for you, I have the PERFECT list of costumes! These costumes will be a breeze, especially since they’re built to come right out of your closet. Feel free to browse as you may, my ideas are your ideas.

1. Joel Goodson (Risky Business)

Now if it’s been a minute since you’ve seen Risky Business, it is about time you take it off the shelf and give it a watch. Trust me, Tom Cruise is a must see and so is the costume that you’ll get out of it. It is iconic and one of the comfiest costumes you’ll find. All it takes is a white button down shirt, long white socks, some sunglasses, and your choice of shorts. Simple as that! Don’t dawdle, dance yourself to your closet ASAP!

2. Elle Woods (Legally Blonde)

I object! This little number comes in one color and one color only-- pink! If you’re anything like me, your pink collection is rather limited but pull out your favorite pieces, it doesn’t have to be exact. For this look, pick out your favorite pink mini skirt, add a pink top or cardigan, and accessorize with pearls. Now just nail the bend-and-snap and you are all set!

3. Wednesday Addams

You know us college girls are at that very special age where we have one thing on our mind, no it’s not boys it’s… HOMICIDE. Fit this mantra more by donning the look of the notorious Wednesday Addams. All you need is a white button down under a simple black dress and black boots. Make sure to add some black tights and two braids and your look is complete. If you ask yourself how you look and the answer is “disturbing”, you did it right.

4. Britney Spears

If you need a sign (wink, wink) to pull out your white button down one more time, try this Britney Spears costume. This is a great way to liven up your closet basics. Wear your white button down with a cardigan over top, a black skirt, and some black shoes. Add in braided pigtails and some pink scrunchies and you’re done. Be careful, don’t win too many grammy’s out there.

5. Pirate

Aarrrrre you still looking for a costume? Blimey, do I have one for you! Pull out a white, flowy shirt, some black denim cutoffs, a red bandana, and some long black boots. Don’t forget to add some hoop earrings, a chunky belt, and fishnet tights to make the outfit seem worth a pretty shilling. Now look at that, the world's best pirate!

6. Velma

Jinkies! I have yet another costume hiding in your closet! All it takes to be this genius woman is an orange sweater, a red skirt, and glasses. Spice it up with some accessories and add some Doc Martens. Now you’ve modernized the whole costume! You’ll serve looks and maybe you’ll catch the bad guy while you’re at it.

7. Daphne

It is about time we solve the mysterious case of the missing costume. If your friend is also struggling with outfit ideas Daphne and Velma are a fun duo that is likely already in your closet. Don’t get me wrong, you can definitely pull off this costume by itself. The recognizable all purple look and white shoes can be noticed from a mile away (bonus points for the green neck scarf). Wear it with a friend or wear it by yourself. You'll still be one of the best dressed meddling kids around.
